Book spotlight - Dear Heartbreakers
Today I'm going to recommend something to you all. And it is the book Dear Heartbreakers by Vivien Kis. This is a soulful book that keeps getting more and more rational as you read on. The author aims and hits us with lines from pop culture that has impacted the minds and hearts, and more importantly – beliefs about what love should look like. How it should be treated. The narrative that starts with the nagging feeling of something being slightly ‘off’, but then guiding us through to what is the person’s truth underneath everything we’ve been taught to believe and everything we thought we’re supposed to feel and do.
It is a truly inspirational art journey of a mind that gets lost and then breaks free and is brave enough to look at reality. It’s immersive and I am truly glad I found this book. It resonates with me a lot, it talks to me about thoughts I have thought, fights I have fought, but without judging of how I felt and feel, more so – wrapping me up in the comfort of not being alone like this in the world.
Some excerpts:
* In my dreams
Our broken hearts mirrored each other
Jumping of joy to have found one another
But vulgar reality never dawned upon us *
* Trap his body and implant a heart
Make it love with ardor and fidelity
So it can die knowing how it feels
When your heart gets ripped apart *
* Lying was your sadistic pleasure
Romeo, you forgot the ladder
All you brought was your pride *
I highly suggest to you all, my dearest, be brave and do check out the magnificent Vivien’s book!
